Slow, but sane

When you work at a university, Orientation Week is nuts. I have been swamped with requests which make blogging about running (and finishing up other freelance projects) almost impossible.
Morning marathon training helps me maintain some sort of sanity, though sometimes I wonder if a second evening workout would be beneficial or just plain therapeutic.
Sophie starts preschool in two weeks, which means we’ll be out the door way earlier than normal. Morning runs might need to be shifted to the evenings. As we get into fall/winter, I don’t mind this as much, but it sure is nice to get out first thing and start the day with a run.
This morning’s felt decent after the first mile. I went out on the gravel hilly loop, just for a change of scenery. Last mile was peppered with some strides. According to the Garmin, my fastest pace during these bursts was 8:26 min/mile, which I don’t really believe, but seriously? It makes me think of the bloggers I follow who are running 7:00 min/mile paces as an “easy run,” and I don’t know how they do it. It seems that a pace like that is physically impossible.
Oh well. I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing, right?
