RWRUNSTREAK Day 10/11

DAY 10
I was a tad worried I might wake up on Day 10 with a less than normal desire to run; Friday night was our work holiday party.

double cream stout with team/var/run/nancy

matching holiday pro compression!

Against my better judgment, I went out for an after party 1.25 beers with Josh, Nancy, Deidre, and Kelly.
Since having kids and no real regular babysitter, we don’t go out much anymore. I’m also a complete pussy now when it comes to alcohol, so I’m a super cheap date (thanks to my TVR mates for buying me drinks, especially when I was so excited to leave the house that I forgot my wallet).
Surprisingly, I didn’t feel too badly in the morning (must be that I’ve finally, after 38 years, figured where the fine line is between bwahaha! and barf!) and was determined to brave the craptastic weather.
For me, winter running = maintaining some sort of running fitness level/sanity. I don’t usually try to run for any sort of PR, and today was no exception.
The weather was unsavory, to say the least. It was ridiculously cold, windy, and I chose a road that wasn’t plowed. It was slow, brutal and on multiple occasions I questioned why the hell I was doing this.
I used to get hung up on crappy runs like this, but now I know that these come and go and before I know it, the running is good again. Also: I’m always slower in the winter. I’ve also been running for ten days in a row (!), which is uncharted territory for me. I’m just happy to be able to get out and do this.
Fun facts about running in near/sub zero temps: your water bottle may freeze.
There was a nice treat waiting for me on the porch when I returned. Yahoo for post-run sweats! I’ll wear these and pretend I’m fast. Thanks for the super speedy shipping, Granato Racing!
Day 11
When we left for church this morning, I first noticed how NOT windy it was and hoped it would remain this way until I was able to get out for my run. It did.
I chose a route that had significantly more plowing done. It made a difference. Also: did I mention there wasn’t any wind?
There was, however, a fair amount of sweating despite it being in single digits.

I’m an Oiselle layered advertisement (Mac Jacket, Lux long sleeve, Winona, Lesleys).
rwrunstreak day 11 done. I can’t believe I’m still doing this. I hope there’s a super sweet prize at the end. (haha)
Not sure why there’s a picture of Santa here, but it’s the holidays. Indulge me.
Okay, I am starting to feel really pathetic that I won’t run outdoors in Arizona because it’s 30 degrees. Damn, I think you officially took my last excuse to be lazy! Kudos to you for braving that extreme weather!!
