Dispelling the (Thanksgiving) Carb-loading Myth

Oh man, that hurt.
I decided to be spontaneous and adventurous this morning and deviate from my normal routes and try something new. Since we had company arriving, I set out for a quick 3 miler but thought I could run a new route.
The three miles turned into five when at 2.5 I checked my phone and realized that no, that park road doesn’t dump out in the spot where I thought it did. Oops.
It’s just as well, since my turkey/stuffing/potatoes/pie eating ass needed the extra calorie burn, but holy shit. That felt pretty awful. It makes me wonder if carb-loading really is a load of crap.
I ended up with almost 70 miles for November, which is 30 less than what I set for my goal, but almost 30 more than November 2012.
I think I’m well on my way to hit my goal of 200 Miles Before Dec 31 that I set after the marathon. I’m also on day 3 of the Runner’s World Run Streak Challenge, where I am supposed to run at least a mile every day from Thanksgiving until New Year’s. Running in 30 degree snow-less weather is NBD. At home? We’ll see how long I last without a treadmill.
