Slow-vember Running and I miss the sun

Last night was supposed to be a DVD night, but it was pretty mild out and the run won.
I’m jealous of the people who get to run during the day. These are the ones who are always saying, “I HEART RUNNING IN THE WINTER! YAY SNOW!”
You know what? Running in the sun in the winter isn’t so damn bad. But for the people who have to run in the dark before or after work. The suck level gets raised significantly.
I am not sure how running in the dark in the summer is less sucky than doing it in the winter, but it is.
This first mile was one of the worst I’ve run outside of the last half of my marathon. I was pretty sure the entire lower half of my body was falling apart more with each step.
Somehow I willed my legs to pick up the pace and clocked the second mile in at 10:04, another brutal mile. I was shocked I could bring the last mile in under 10:00.
Sometimes it just feels awful. Maybe it’s my body telling me to take a break. Maybe my lower body really IS falling apart.
I’m not sure how accurate my average heart rate measurement is (148) since the strap is flaking out, but if it truly was 148, that’s a pretty solid moderately hard effort for me. It shouldn’t be this hard for me to run 3 miles in 30 minutes. Frustrating.
