Foggy Five Friday

The fog this morning was unreal. The weather app on my phone reported 100% humidity, and when I stepped out the door, it was right.
The headlamp doesn’t do much in the fog except make visibility worse, but you can’t turn it off because then you can’t see the ground.
I had already decided to bail on the planned eight and go for five. Originally, this was going to be an out and back on the highway, but in this fog? I don’t have a death wish.
I decided to run around the neighborhood/downtown Calumet and tack a little on to a familiar loop. Garmin wasn’t cooperating (auto pausing, telling me I was running 5 min miles!) so I just tried to aim for time, even though I had no idea what time I started.
In the end, I ran 5 miles in about 53 minutes, even though the Garmin says 48:24. I’m pretty sure it was way short. The time is a guess. Oh well. Done.
Tomorrow’s long will be two hours slow with Scott, who hasn’t put in a long run in at least a month. It’s a good thing we like each other and have redeeming qualities to make up for the hot running crankiness that will inevitably surface.
I did manage to get in some quality carb loading with my fellow IT runners.
and pick up my ten pounds (!!) of blueberries; my coworker’s family has a giant blueberry farming operation in lower Michigan (reendersblueberryfarms.com).
Anything awesome planned this weekend? We’ll be traveling for a family thing, baking in the sun on the MN state fairgrounds at some point over the weekend, and two runs in my second favorite state. If Minnesota’s weather wants to creep back into the tolerable range for a few days, that would be awesome.
