I could get used to this.

Sunday’s run:
No run yesterday evening but will go out tonight. It’s been absolutely gorgeous during the day, but it’s tough for me to get out and run during the workday. I sweat too much, and showering at work is kind of a hassle.

While doing a little digging around on the Internet, I found this:

In 2003 I ran the Ann Arbor Turkey Trot with my dad. It was the last race we ran together. Since then he’s been unable to run due to a condition with his spine and back.

There was a 5K and 10K. If you ran both, you ran “The Iron Turkey.” My dad and I ran the 5K together and then I ran the 10K solo. For being fairly new to running races at the time, I don’t think I did too badly for two in a row.

At one point I had a bad digital photo of the two of us post-race. Since this was nine years ago, I doubt the photos are still archived anywhere. I don’t even remember if it was an official race photographer. Through the moving associated with my divorce, the file was lost. I would do just about anything to get that photo back.

But I still have the memory, so that’s something. And now I have the official chip time. But most of all, I’d love to be able to run with my dad again.

Runner, Eater, Mother, Tweeter

Amy, July 2013

I'm a thirty-something suburbanite turned ruralite living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Wife, mom of two, eater of all things delicious, and a runner. This is where I blather on about running and health. Baby Number Three will be here in November (so yes, I'm a little crazy), and I'm running through my pregnancy for as long as my body's willing and able. There's also more of me at amyupnorth.com. Read more here.

What a fun way to close out the hockey season in the Copper Country. More pictures by Jay.
