So I can gut it out through a grueling marathon and walk away unscathed, but go to a pickup hockey rental, skate for about an hour and be completely wrecked?

I ended up falling during my last skate on Thursday. At first I thought I bruised a rib; I landed weirdly on my chest pads and it kind of jabbed me. It hurt, but I shook it off.

The next morning I was in a lot of pain and wondered if I pulled a muscle.

Tried to run Saturday. Made it about three steps and realized it just wasn’t gonna happen.

Nothing Sunday. Hurt to breathe, laugh, sneeze, etc.

Today is a gorgeous day, and I’m going to suck it up and try to go for a couple miles after work. I wonder if I just give it a shot if I’ll eventually just go numb? Of course, I am kidding a little.

I love hockey but if every fall means I’ll be so sore I won’t be able to run during the week, I’m giving it up for the winter. I can’t not be able to run. I feel like I’m going nuts. When mom doesn’t get to run? Mom is crabby.

No one wants me to be crabby.

Runner, Eater, Mother, Tweeter

Amy, July 2013

I'm a thirty-something suburbanite turned ruralite living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Wife, mom of two, eater of all things delicious, and a runner. This is where I blather on about running and health. Baby Number Three will be here in November (so yes, I'm a little crazy), and I'm running through my pregnancy for as long as my body's willing and able. There's also more of me at amyupnorth.com.
