GPS FAIL

Monday morning, post-hockey rental, I started to feel really lousy. By late afternoon, my throat was hurting. Tuesday morning, I felt like death and dragged myself to work, knowing I could hide in my office with the door closed all day and just survive.
I was also sore. as. hell. Tuesday was almost marathon-level soreness. I had to pick up my legs with my hands to swing them out of the car. How sad is that?
So I didn’t exercise Monday or Tuesday, figuring my body needed the break. Yesterday I was aching to get out for a run, so when the rain stopped and Scott got home from work, I did just that.
I looked down to check my pace around 0.6 and noticed the GPS wasn’t tracking. Eventually it picked up the satellites again, but then all of the mile markers were way off. I know where the one mile mark is on this particular loop, so I manually set the lap and let it calculate them after that.
I had set out for 3.1 miles and then that turned to 3.5 and then it was almost 3.6 so I figured what the hell, I’ll just run 4.
I love this Garmin watch and the site with all of the information is pretty cool. But what I hate about it? It doesn’t let you edit a route in a workout. I can save a route and make changes, but when my watch stops tracking and I want to go back later and show it where I ran? No dice. That seems like a pretty basic function; I can do that on mapmyrun.com.
I know, first world running problems!
Tonight I’m going back to play hockey – I’m switching my day with Scott so he can watch football tonight – and while I know I will appreciate the workout and chance to play on a night I usually don’t get to play, I’m a little afraid I’m going to be hurting again in the morning.
