Slow but done

So sore this morning, so getting out was a real challenge. According to my training schedule I am due for a 12 mile run today. [insert laugh track here]
I walked for one minute around 22:00 but trotted the rest of the way. I still feel really awful, but this is the least amount of walking I’ve done on the 5K loop. The weather was in the high 60s to low 70s, which was a little hot at the end, but a breeze in the beginning helped.
I don’t know if anyone out there is reading, but if you are a runner and a mom, I’m wondering: how long did it take postpartum for you to start feeling “normal” again? When Sophie was born, I sat on my ass for almost a year before attempting weight loss and serious exercise. I didn’t expect to be back to my best times right away, but I didn’t expect to feel this awful at 12 weeks.
Am I being unrealistic, or am I just old, beaten down and broken?
I started running a month ago, and my personal best is 2.2miles without walking. I’m impressed by anyone that has the motivation to get out and run. The advise I’ve taken on board is ‘go at your own pace.’ And don’t worry about times and distances too much! Just feel good that you’re out there doing it.
I agree. It’s tough knowing where I was at and how far I’ve fallen from there. Then again, I DID just have a baby. I suppose I shouldn’t be too hard on myself.
