True love

And no, I don’t mean the food I would eat later in the day. 🙂
I always try to eat something before log runs. Basically, for me that means any run longer than an hour. Today I toasted a nutri-grain waffle and topped it with peanut butter and honey, accompanied by half a banana
Scott routed us an 11 mile route that would accommodate the BOB. Oh, yes. He pushed that thing the entire way. Ladies, allow me to let you in on a secret. True love isn’t a dozen roses or a fancy dinner or expensive jewelry. It’s the person who’s willing to take one for the team and push a gigantic jogging stroller for almost two hours so that you don’t have to do a long run IN THE HEAT alone.
When we got back, we found out it wasn’t quite eleven. It was 9.77. Ugh.
It was hot. Scott had to push that stroller. We figure it was a good enough.
Since Scott was going to be stuck working all day, we decided to take off for our long drive downstate to visit my family. It’s a ten plus hour drive, not exactly what you want to do after running in the heat. It’s also the first time I have driven a long way by myself with Sophie post-infant phase. When they’re babies it’s a piece of cake; they sleep. When they’re toddlers, it isn’t so easy. They need entertaining. And snacks. and they don’t understand that they’re stuck in he car and can’t just get out when they want.
Fortunately, Jimmy John’s has a way of making it more palatable.
We always drive straight through, but after getting a late afternoon start, I started to consider stopping halfway and grabbing a hotel room. We decided to take a break in St. Ignace.
Thank you, Best Western of Mackinac City. The swimming pool and playground for Sophie sealed the deal.
Tomorrow we ark our time making the trip to Detroit. Not sure what we’ll do. Traveling with a toddler solo is a lot of work. It’s constant vigilance. It’s exhausting. I’m going to shift my running schedule by one day this week and take tomorrow off. Forty-one miles this week in 90 degree weather. Not sure if I’ll make it.
