Rain delay

We woke up at 6 am to thunder and lightning, followed by heat indexes in triple digits.
Yeah, I didn’t exactly get my run in.
I did get out in the evening for a softball game (we lost), which was tolerable due to a nice breeze sweeping across the playing fields.
Food? Continuing the Asian theme, I made a peanut sesame dressing and tossed up a salad of shredded napa cabbage, shredded carrots, cucumber, scallions, and garbanzo beans. Sorry, didn’t realize the photos were so oversaturated.
The first photo? Pictured is one of my favorite kitchen tools, a julienne peeler. It’s one of those things I never knew I’d need until someone gave me one (my mom bought it for me for Christmas). It was packaged with a few others (I can’t remember the brand name at the moment, just that it was bought at Williams Sonoma. Seriously, though, it’s great for shredding small items you don’t want to drag out the mandoline for, or the food processor for that matter. The zucchini I had the other day? Used this wonderful tool. I highly recommend you pick one up.
Kashi sent me a free full-sized sample of their new pita crisps. Not bad. The only thing that would make these better is if they were covered with cinnamon and sugar. Actually, I think it’s time to whip up some spicy feta dip for these. Recipe forthcoming.
Yeah, I’m totally craving some Stacy’s. Good thing my Amazon order gets here tomorrow.
We hit the ice cream joint for junior cones after the game. Sophie thought their parking lot/picnic area was the FUNNEST PLACE EVAR.
Tomorrow is supposed to be my rest day before a seven miler on Friday and 15 miler on Saturday. Probably a good idea.
